Celebrating 72 Years

A Final Gathering of Saint Pius X School Whanau
Saturday, 31 October 2026

A special farewell event to honor the legacy, community, and history of Saint Pius X School before closing at the end of 2026

Kia ora and welcome!
Aroha mai, aroha atu!

Love that is received is love that is returned.

At St Pius X School, we're more than just a school – we're whānau. We'd love for your tamariki to join us!

Nestled in beautiful Titahi Bay, Porirua, our integrated Catholic primary school (New Entrants to Year Six) offers a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for boys and girls.

Founded by the Brigidine Sisters over 70 years ago, their values of "strong and gentle" are woven into the very fabric of our school.

We are Christ-centred and forward-thinking, nurturing actively engaged learners who embody our CREW values: Care, Respect, Excellence, and Wisdom.

Our vision is to be a community of inclusive learners, living the gospel values of Jesus Christ in all we do.

We invite you to discover the St Pius X difference and see how your child can thrive with us!

Welcome

Keeping Ourselves Safe Programme
4 Aug 2026

Kia ora SPX whānau,

Over the next 3 weeks we will be teaching a ‘Keeping Ourselves Safe’ programme to
Weka class. We will be teaching the girls and boys separately using the material
from the NZ Police’s prescribed programme. You can check it out here if you would
like to :
https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-services/personal-community-safety/school-
portal/resources/successful-relationships/kos
Topics being covered with the girls include
Confident Me: considering different consequences when making a decision and
identifying risks and how to manage them
Safe or unsafe: identifying behaviours of others that make them uncomfortable, use
‘Stop, Walk, Talk’ strategy in risky situations
No excuse for abuse: about abuse, bribes, secrets, and tricks
Why should I tell?: identifying adults who they can ask for help and identifying what
happens when abuse has been reported.

This is an introductory level approach to sensitive topics and is not designed to go
deep.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child being part of this, please
contact John or Philippa to discuss things further
